    Students will be introduced to the Prepare U curriculum and they will begin a self-reflection on their own developmental processes.

    Students will engage in experiential activities that support them in relating to a classmate’s personal narrative in order to facilitate the cultivation of empathic capacity.

    Students will gain an overall understanding of biological, psychological, and environmental influences on personality.

    Students will reflect on and share their experiences of having an important conversation with a family member about their biopsychosocial context. Students will develop an expanded understanding of the ways in which differing biopsychosocial contexts can shape personality.

    Students will gain a better understanding of the relationship between events, thoughts, and feelings. Students will learn how to analyze their patterns of responding to activating events.

    Students will learn about the differences between healthy and unhealthy coping styles. Students will increase their ability to recognize the consequences of risky decisions.

    Students will develop an understanding of the stressors that can lead to intense anger. Students will learn methods to understand their anger so as to better manage it.

    Students will be reminded of the resources available to assist those in crisis and/or struggling with suicidal thoughts. Students will learn to recognize the areas of their lives over which they have some control as well as those areas of their lives which may be beyond their abilities to control. Students will develop a more realistic understanding of the risks of suicide and the harms caused to others by it. Students will be instructed in tools to assist in goal setting.

    Students will share feelings of loss or grief for a loved one, friend, or family member. Students will learn about various family roles and family systems.

    Students will gain a deeper understanding of the distinctions between thoughts and feelings. Students will learn about ways in which stigma manifests in our society.

    (Part 1) Perceptions: Students will gain a deeper understanding of their habits and biases in relating to others, especially peers.
    (Part 2) Connections: Students will build relationships with classmates through interactive questions and a relationship building exercise. Students will learn about the characteristics of healthy and unhealthy relationships.
